US Long Term Care Costs on the Rise, Genworth Finds

The costs of all types of long term care have increased over the last few years and continues to do so, according to findings from the Genworth Cost of Care Survey.

The annual study, which has been conducted since 2004, compiles the national median costs of home health care, adult day health care, assisted living facilities and nursing home care.

Homemaker Services were up nearly 5 percent from 2016 with a national median hourly rate of $21. Adult Day Health Care was up nearly 3 percent from 2016 with a national median daily rate of $70. As for assisted living facilities, the survey found a five year-annual growth of nearly 3 percent with a 2017 median monthly rate of $3,750. Private room rates at nursing home care facilities saw a five year growth of nearly 4 percent with the median daily rate at $267.
