AARP Survey: Student Loan Debt is a Problem Across Generations
Student loan debt is a problem for people across three generations, finds an AARP survey.
The study found among those who have student debt, 45% of Millennials, 48% of Generation Xers, and 50% of Boomers owe $30,000 or more. Millennials had the highest average debt at $41,000. While Gen Xers came in at $39,000 and Boomers at $38,000.
The survey also found people are beginning to question whether college is worth the cost. 59 percent of respondents answered no to if they believe the benefits of a college education are worth the costs.
The survey questioned nearly 49 hundred adults - Millennials, Gen Xers and Boomers.
