100 Best Places to Retire in 2018
We’ve covered a few best places lists here on Retirement News Today, but this is one of the bigger ones -- U.S. News & World Report’s 100 Best Places to Retire.
The number one best place to retire in is Sarasota, Florida. The report says Sarasota has warm temperatures year-round, award-winning beaches and great restaurants. Sarasota has a growing economy as more residents and tourists flock to the Florida town, and in turn there is a sizeable job market for healthcare, small business and tourism industries. The number two spot goes to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. U.S. News says Lancaster offers a balance between natural and commercial spaces. The city also has close-knit church communities and indie coffee shops. San Antonio is the third city on the list. According to U.S. News, San Antonio has big-city amenities and world-renowned attractions. The city boasts a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
U.S. News interviewed pre-retirees, in the age range of 45 - 69, and retirees, 60 years of age and older. U.S. News looked at 100 of the largest metropolitan areas in the US., including Puerto Rico, for the list.
The cities were ranked based on six criteria -- housing affordability, happiness, desirability, retiree taxes, job market and healthcare quality. To see the complete list of places click on the link in the description below.
