BrightScope, a leading provider of investment research to the retirement industry, just released its eighth Top 30 401(k) Plans List with plans containing more than $1 billion in assets.

BrightScope’s algorithm analyzes more than 200 unique data points. So what do the top plans have in common? They all have generous company contributions, immediate plan eligibility, immediate vesting, low fees, high participation rates and plans within the list averaged over $14,100 in salary deferrals.

The top four plans on the list are from airlines. Number one is the Delta Pilots Savings Plan, 2 is American Airlines, Inc. 401(k) Plan For Pilots, 3 is United Airlines Pilot Retirement Account Savings and 4 is Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Retirement Savings Plan. Moving onto number 5, that spot goes to the NFL Player Second Career Savings Plan, then 6 The Savings Plan of Saudi Arabian Oil Company, 7) Novartis Corporation Investment Savings Plan, 8) UPS/IPA Defined Contribution Money Purchase Pension Plan, 9) Chevron Employee Savings Investment Plan and the 10th best plan is Amgen Retirement and Savings Plan.
